Experience:
Thapelo combines over 15 years of auditing experience with newly acquired legal advocacy credentials. This dual expertise enables her to credibly argue complex cases requiring both technical auditing insight and legal precision. She is particularly well-suited for disputes involving governance, procurement irregularities, fraud, and financial risk assessments. Academic & Professional Qualifications • National Diploma in Internal Auditing – Tshwane University of Technology (2006) • B-Tech in Internal Auditing – University of South Africa (2013) • Postgraduate Diploma in Forensic Auditing – University of South Africa (2019) • Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) – Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (2021) • LLB Degree – University of South Africa (2024) • Admitted Advocate of the High Court of South Africa – 2 March 2026 Internal Auditing, Governance & Risk Management Experience PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), 2008–2012 • Thapelo oversaw the risk management process and supervised governance and internal control audits. • She conducted audits in procurement, HR, finance, FICA, asset management, and fleet management across municipalities, government department, mutual bank, universities, FET College, and corporates such as SASOL. South African Revenue Service (SARS), 2012–2024 • She was appointed as Internal Auditor in Customs & Excise in April 2012 and promoted to Operational Manager in June 2014. • Thapelo has led governance and internal control audits, and contributed to establishing processes for assessing irregular, fruitless, and wasteful expenditure in line with National Treasury guidelines. • She was later appointed as an Operational Specialist in Procurement in July 2023, conducting financial risk analyses of bidders in tender processes to assess financial stability and compliance, alongside assessing and performing determination test on irregular, fruitless, and wasteful expenditure transactions. Legal Practice • She completed pupillage with the Pretoria Society of Advocates in 2025. • Thapelo has successfully passed the National Bar Examination Board (NBEB) exam and Legal Practice Council (LPC) Advocates’ Admission Examination. • She was admitted as an Advocate of the High Court of South Africa on 2 March 2026.
