He commenced his pupillage at the Pretoria Society of Advocates in February 2002 after having attained his legal qualifications from the University of Pretoria. He has an extensive commercial practice with significant experience in dealing with matters relating to general civil litigation, Law of Contract and matters relating to the National Credit Act. In 29 September 2008 he was appointed by the then Deputy Minister of Justice as a commissioner of the Small Claims Court. His practice also includes arbitrations. He serves on the Society's Professional and Ethics Committee. 

More than 70 of the cases he has appeared in has been reported in the SA Law Reports, the BCLR, JOL, JDR and Saflii including:

Minister of Safety and Security v Augustine and Others 2017 (2) SACR 332 (SCA); Tshwane City v Afriforum and Another 2016 (6) SA 279 (CC); Beweging vir Christlik-Volkseie Onderwys and Others v Minister of Education and Others (2012) 2 All SA 462 (SCA); and Nsovo Holdings (Pty) Ltd v Standard Bank of South Africa 2020 (2) SA 619 (GJ).

On a personal note, he is happily married to his wife Hannelie and they have been blessed with four children - two boys and two girls. He is also a coach of a 'Bulletjie rugby' team and has found that it is easier to deal with a full bench appeal than with 9 seven your old boys on a sugar rush.
